General Directions to Battle Mountain:
Most people going to Battle Mountain do so via Interstate 80, either westbound from Carlin or eastbound from Winnemucca. A few folks drive into town from the south, via Nevada State Route 305 from Austin. The Battle Mountain Airport (BAM), formerly known as Lander County Airport, is located just southeast of town. The airfield is accessed off the south frontage road of I-80, and can handle most private aircraft, including smaller jets. Availability of rental cars is iffy, so if you fly in it's best to call ahead to make ground transportation arrangements.

Battle Mountain & Vicinity (Area Map):
Battle Mountain marks Interstate 80's approximate half-way point in its long journey across northern Nevada. It is the seat of Lander County, and lies just southeast of the confluence of the Reese and Humboldt Rivers. It was once an important stop on the former Southern Pacific Railroad mainline. That line now is a part of the Union Pacific, handling mostly westbound rail traffic, while the original route of the UP north of the Humboldt River (and just off the map) is used mainly for eastbound trains.

How to get to the Battle Mountain area Brothels from Westbound Interstate 80:
(1) Approaching town on westbound I-80, take the first Battle Mountain exit (#233), which is about 1.75 miles after you pass by the north end of the local airfield (which was on your left) and a small speedway located at the junction of the airport's access road and the frontage road running along the south side of the Interstate. If you miss this exit, continue on and take the next exit (#231 at S.R. 305), then follow these alternate directions.
(2) Once on the ramp, bear right, and you will merge onto westbound Business Loop 80 (legally designated as Nevada S.R. 304). This is Hilltop Road, which then heads northwest, crosses the Reese River, and proceeds into Battle Mountain where it becomes Front Street. Watch for rapidly dropping speed limits.
(3) Once in Battle Mountain, you want to stay on Front St until you get to the 4-Way STOP at the intersection with Reese Street (which still may be marked as Nevada S.R. 806 NORTH). This is one block BEFORE you reach the junction of Nevada S.R. 305 SOUTH at Broad Street. Reese is about 1.95 miles after the gore (exit) point off of I-80, or about 0.95 miles west of the Reese River bridge. Either way, it's the first major right turn (onto a street) you can take once you're in town.

How to get to the Battle Mountain area Brothels from the Battle Mountain Airport:
(1) As you leave the Battle Mountain Airport (airport code: BAM) via its 0.40-mile long access road, you will pass a small speedway on your right, just before reaching a T-intersection with the southern Frontage Road of I-80 (which is officially known as "FR LA 02" by Nevada's DOT).
(2) Turn left (west) onto this Frontage Rd and follow it 2.10 miles to its end (another T-intersection) at Hilltop Road.
(3) Turn right (north) onto Hilltop, where an interchange with I-80 (exit #233) is immediately encountered. Proceed straight on Hilltop as it passes over I-80, and becomes westbound Business Loop 80 (oficially, Nevada S.R. 304 WEST). Follow this state highway, which then curves northwest, crosses the Reese River, and proceeds into Battle Mountain where it becomes Front Street. Watch for rapidly dropping speed limits.
(4) Once in Battle Mountain, you want to stay on Front St until you get to the 4-Way STOP at the intersection with Reese Street (which may still be marked as Nevada S.R. 806 NORTH). This is one block BEFORE you reach the junction of Nevada S.R. 305 SOUTH at Broad Street. Reese is about 1.90 miles after you turn off of the southern Frontage Rd, 1.75 miles after the bridge over I-80, or about 0.95 miles west of the Reese River bridge. Anyway, it's the first major right turn (onto a street) you can take once you're in town.

Battle Mountain's central business district:
Like many other small towns in the Silver State, Battle Mountain has a somewhat confusing naming system for its numbered streets in that there are two distinct sets of them. For example, the Calico Club is located on North Second Street, which is separate from (and not connected to) Second Street. To add to the confusion, neither road runs in a north-south direction. The "North" in the address (often incorrectly abbreviated) indicates that it is the northernmost of the two Second Streets in town rather than being a directional for the numeric portion of the address, as is customary when a cardinal direction (abbreviated or not) appears before a street name and not after. Gee, if they'd just called it "Second Street North", they'd have caused fewer problems!
Just remember, the North Second Street you're looking for is on the northeast side of the railroad tracks, while "just plain" Second Street is southwest of them. Fitting isn't it, that the brothel (like most in the state) is located on what is generally considered to be the "wrong" side of the tracks.

The Calico Club is the sole remaining legal brothel in the north central Nevada town of Battle Mountain. A portion of the house has been turned into an extended stay hotel that goes by the name Calico Inn, renting rooms by the week and month. This hotel operation is seperate from that of the brothel.
History
After nearly eleven years of ownership by Donna's Ranch of Wells, operating as Donna's Battle Mountain Ranch the brothel was sold to an individual named John Michael Lawrence, who had then restored this establishment's original name, The Calico Club. A brothel licence for the new owner was reportedly approved by Lander County on October 12, 2011. Donna's Ranch Battle Mountain closed in mid-October 2011 in anticipation of this change in ownership. According to Karmen Leigh, who was made the Madame of the house under Lawrence, the Calico Club reopened on November 3, 2011. She also reported the house had been repainted with a red and black color scheme.
In late 2000, the original Calico Club had been acquired by the owners of Donna's Ranch of Wells. Upon completion of a complete remodeling, it was then renamed as Donna's Battle Mountain Ranch. During most of their tenure, Donna's website had only a single page devoted to this Battle Mountain location, but their "Meet the Girls" page did usually show courtesans from both locations. During the Great Recession of 2008-2010, it was reported that this Battle Mountain location of Donna's had closed on occassion due to lack of customers and/or ladies. But by late 2010 they were back in business full-time once again, and remained so until the aforementioned sale of the establishment in October 2011.
