She ran away from an abusive home at 14, and started prostitution at 15, with no mental/emotional resources to live a decent life.
She hasn't really grown up mentally/emotionally since then.
The narcotics addiction didn't help no doubt ;-)
Still the same child/victim mentality, wanting parents -> the state to fix things for her
(to make amends for when her parents failed her, so she can now feel ok).
But the powerless/victims cannot ever truly create, they can only manipulate/take from others.
Her arrogant dogmatic line - "my experience of prostitution is the
only possible experience, it's all degrading ...", "
all men who see prostitutes are..." is that of a child: self-centered, overly simplistic.
And overly dramatic - elsewhere she whines about the "verbal contempt and scorn" that customers pour on women in reviews. I read some reviews at
www.escort-ireland.com, no contempt in them. One can search for unhappy reviews, and the worst is "her pictures were old", "she rushed me out" type stuff. (BTW - they have a page for anti-trafficking resources).
I'm wondering if this 37 year old (now) woman (who "was prostituted" until age 22) isn't embellishing her stories a bit. (or found religion or at least the guilt trip thereof, or is just sad and miserable and wants to "do something" to be a hero).
With such immaturity, and such shame, building/growing/gnawing at her day by day, she finally becomes so shameless that she bursts out of her shell. And ignorantly tries to get rid of her shame by dumping on others.
Won't work, can't work, never has worked. It takes real therapy to heal, to give the shame back to the offenders.
But it's easier to play righteous victim (especially when churches and politicians encourage it), which unfortunately spreads even more shame in the world, causing more violence.
She's from Ireland - land of the saints - and arrogant sexism, courtesy of the Catholic Church.
They finally got divorce (banned since 1937) a few years back, when some sense came over them about the "scourge of Ireland" - incest.
Prostitution per say is legal in Ireland, but like in LPIN, officially frowned upon.
Women can't work together in (legal) brothel to protect themselves.
This survey says many prostitutes don't report crimes to the police, because they fear exposure by the police/courts.
http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/threequarters-of-irish-prostitutes-have-gone-to-college-29596522.htmlIt also says that in 159 females, 16 males and 17 transgenders, NONE started under the age of 16.
The prostitutes denounce the Irish government's health service for them, saying it's anti sex-work.
And note that the Dail (lower house of the Irish parliament) did not consult any sex workers in their proposal to criminalise the purchase of sex, but they did hear from a large number of anti-prostitution and religious groups.
Interesting article about prostitution in Ireland.
When it was outside the law, no troubles. Then the "reformers" "fixed things" and now it's a mess.
Kinda like LPIN - can't advertise...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_the_Republic_of_IrelandAbout Sweden, where a woman had her children taken away (because she was a prostitute) and given to her partner, a known violent abusive man who subsequently murdered her.
http://the-toast.net/2013/08/29/sex-workers-rights-in-sweden/What's scary is the clip of a femi-nazi in charge of "helping women" telling the reporter not to expect any help at a women's shelter.
Total adolescent clique behaviour - "be exactly like us or we get to be mean to you".
