Just suppose,  "IF"  prostitution were legal in every state and we're not talking about the Nevada monopoly style of prostitution either, what do you think prices would be like?  ::)

It would be location, location, location issue.

More expensive in the Wall Street, Washington DC, Los Angeles, etc. areas.

Cheaper in rural areas, like Nevada.

Without the monopoly, prices would drop.  Perhaps by a large margin depending on how competitive it was.

Let's not forget that the vast majority of people on this planet are having sex for FREE without involving prostitutes.  Just saying.   What do they know that we don't know?  ???????? :o :o :o

That depends. The price of Marijuana almost doubled when it was legalized in Colorado and taxes added.

So if we applied that, twice the current illegal local price, but less than in the Nevada brothels today.

Are you sure that's the reason for the doubling in price?  Or is it because people are willing to pay that much so why should marijuana retailers charge less?

BTW: That probably holds true for the Nevada brothels too. As long as fellers are itching to hand their money over, why should working woman and brothels charge less?

Actually the demand would be so high, there wouldn't be enough ladies to go around and medical testing labs would be overwhelmed.

I'm not so sure about that. Maybe ladies in other states who did not want to work illegally and didn't want to travel to Nevada to work in a chicken coop or share their money with state sanctioned pimps might decide to do it if they could work closer to home and run their own business. Also many of the ladies working illegally would now have the opportunity to work legally. As far as health checks goes, I think a nurse's aid could do the testing. It's not like you would need a Dr. to do each test.

Well, that's the question. Are you talking about highly regulated legalization or simple decrminialization?

Can you imagine some of the LPIN ladies working on the other side of the country if prostitution be camelegal.

And who would control them, Dennis?

Legalization!

Well, back to the Marijuana analogy. Just the taxes alone will add another 50%, including an additional 25% special excise tax on the product. Then you have the addition burden of tracking it from seed to sale which adds overhead to the process.

And frankly, its not much different from a government standpoint of the Nevada brothels is that due to strict zoning and limited licenses, they are in fact holding similar monopolies.

And I'd expect any form of legalization would most likely go the brothel route as it provides a central location that can be controlled through zoning, health and safety checks, card checks and collection of taxes.

In Calif with medical marijuana, you can grow your own. I would expect if prostitution were legal without having the Nevada style. There might be far fewer taxes. You have to remember, in Nevada, the only purpose of having legal prostitution is to raise tax revenue.
