I think the raiders will pick up a large chunk of Californians who've moved to Nevada along with keeping all the fans they already have.

Geo, what would you do if you owned the team, stay in Oakland or move to Vegas????

If I was Mark Davis, with his options, I would have moved.

If I was a Jerry Jones type, I would have built my own stadium in the Bay area. There was an opportunity to turn the former Golden Gate horse track area. It would have been a great deal, but Davis couldn't afford it on his own, nor was he going to get public financing for the project, and 3rd party funding is restricted by the NFL.

I agree with Geo ,  too bad Mark Davis does not have the financial means .

Vegas and the State of Nevada essentially bought the team for $725million in public funds. Every owner gets a $10million bribe to approve it. No chance Oakland was going to compete with that. OTOH, the stadium is one of the worst in the league with no improvements on the horizon. Something had to be done.

Wrong, from what I'm reading the money will come from an increase on the hotel Taxes

Hey Geo, were you the one voter who voted against Raider's move to Las Vegas?

No, it was Miami. The current major destination for visiting teams fans who are going to be losing them going to see their teams in Vegas instead.

Well, with the Raiders moving, it looks like the A's will have plenty of room to build anew stadium. They better not throw the covers for the seats to down size the stadium away. I get the feeling they'll need them for the new stadium as well.

I think the A's signed a deal for the stadium through 2021. With the Warriors and Raiders gone, plenty of opportunity at that location.

But I suspect the covers will be on except when the Yankees and Red Sox are in town.

“A good rule of thumb that economists use is to take what stadium boosters are telling you and move that one decimal place to the left, and that’s usually a good estimate of what you’re going to get.”

Victor Matheson, a sports economist at College of the Holy Cross

Warriors star Draymond Green is calling for fans in Oakland to boycott Raiders’ games .

Maybe someone should remind him the Warriors dumped Oakland as well recently.
