NYNY is a decent hotel with great proximity to the bigger MGM properties. I like it for its location relative to the T-Mobile arena.

What are you looking to do in Vegas? That will help answer that question. The other big thing about NYNY is the roller coaster.

I have no clue what I am looking for 😂😂 i know we want to go to shows and casinos. Of course we are going to visit a brothel but that's not in Las Vegas. I'm not too interested in the super fancy hotels. I just want a semi laid back atmosphere with free Wi Fi.

I think you'll find that most of the strip hotels have a service fee added to the price of your hotel room that includes the cost of WIFI.

The other thing you'll find is that they now charge for parking at the MGM properties. Important if you are going to drive out to the brothels.

So you mentioned shows. Any shows in particular? NYNY has Zumanity, probably the most risque of the Cirque shows in Vegas. we really liked the Michael Jackson show at Mandalay Bay.

Nope no clue on shows either. We are going to rent a car just for a few hours to drive out, then return it

You might want to consider that in your hotel choice as well. I've used rentals on site at a couple of hotels (Luxor and Golden Nugget, but I'm sure there are others) so you aren't going back and forth to the airport rental care counter. I'm not sure what NYNY has for rental cars.

I have spent many trips in Las Vegas and seen many shows . One I recommend is Circus  De Soliel "Love" a Beatles themed show at the Mirage Hotel . My motto now is unless I plan on using the facilities , settle for a less
pricey place . Good luck on your trip .

For Vegas newbies, I often recommend staying mid-strip, since it's has a lot activities/attractions within walking distance.  CET properties such as Bally's, Linq, Flamingo, Harrahs, etc. often have fairly good rates as compared to the higher end places.  The Mirage (another MGM property) and the TI are also good options, since they are also mid-strip.  Although, you need to factor in the Resort Fees when making comparisons of the actual rates.  Free wifi in your room is usually included with the resort fee at most places.

A lot of my friends who don't rent a car have also been using Lyft instead of taxis, since they give better service and are cheaper.  So, it's easy to get around the strip or anywhere around town for the days that you don't have a rental car.

As for shows, tickets for some of the big production shows can be pretty pricey if you're not receiving discounts or comps.  I've seen most of the Cirque shows in Vegas and they're all pretty good.  LOVE is one of my favorites.  Terry Fator's show at the Mirage is also very good.  Le Reve at the Wynn is another good one.

If you plan to do any gambling, be sure to sign up to the players clubs and you will start receiving discount and/or comp offers for future visits.

Do Lyft/Uber have pickup restrictions like the cabs?  I.E. you need to walk 3/4 of a mile to the back of the ~resort and stand behind a sign (that is probably 2 feet away from the cab, limo, bus, trolley, and rickshaw lines)?  Yes I could search but that doesn't replace first hand knowledge.

I agree mid-strip is good if you think you want to walk, or at least give it a shot.  East side is nice if you can deal with the distance back to the monorail and you know the hours of operation.  That allows a walk and ride option, saves wear and tear over a long stay.

I haven't used Lyft/Uber in Vegas since I always have a rental car, so I haven't kept track of restrictions or where the pickup locations are setup at the various casinos.  Although, one of my friends has mobility issues, but she has no problems getting to/from those areas when she stays at Bally's or Flamingo.  So, I'm assuming they are easy to find and not a marathon walk to get too.

MIRAGE

Like Dr. Who suggested above..... for your first trip recommend staying at a mid-strip hotel.  Personally like the Mirage.  Why the Mirage?  Location, location, location!  Next door to the Mirage's right is Caesars Palace including the Forum Shops.  To the right of Caesars Palace is the Bellagio.  Across the street from the Mirage is the Venetian.  And next to the Venetian is the Palazzo followed by the Wynn and the Encore.  Definitely recommend walking through these hotels for sight seeing.  Now with the Mirage exiting your room to Las Vegas Blvd. roughly may take 10 minutes to walk.  Clean, neat, orderly, tidy casino at the Mirage including a few restaurants, shows, and an above average pool.
Because Madam Tara and Madam Jennifer mistreat, bully, wanting to control numerous people; I stopped visiting the Mustang Ranch.  Therefore, can no longer recommend this business.
