Alternate forms of payment for parties...

The weirdest form of payment that was ever presented to me was a trade...for live stock.  True story.  No trade was made.. LOL

What's everyone opinion on alternate forms of payment such as Cash App, Paypal, and Venmo???   Would this make it easier for everyone without having to bring cash all the time?

That's hilarious about the stock. Any kind of trade or barter seems a bit sketchy...

I personally don't use any of the services you listed much. I'll occasionally do a PayPal checkout on an online purchase, but using a credit card rather than a personal PayPal account. I like using cash for parties, just because it's easier for me to set and stick to a budget for a trip that way. So I would likely not make use of the alternate options.

They're all perfectly valid ways of transferring real funds, though, so there's certainly nothing wrong with offering them as options.

That is really hilarious about the livestock. Only in farming/ranching culture. I once won a company work award years ago for "Best in Show". No livestock involved except me, so I can totally relate.

The more options you can offer the customers the better. I still prefer and will continue to use cash myself.

No it will always be cash for me.
First off, the paper trail, second, don’t all of those have surcharges attached that would need to be passed onto the customer, similar to what you currently do with credit cards?

Don’t see the advantage.

But this topic reminds me of a story I heard about Angels Ladies. A guy built them a website in exchange for an overnight with a girl.

I'll stick to cash.  If that ever becomes not a thing in  brothels in my life time.  Then the brothels will no longer be a thing for me.

I'm not saying as a owner you should not accept these forms of payment.  I'm just saying for me I don't want any kind of electronic paper trail I was ever in the building. If I don't have enough cash I simply won't waist my time, or the ladies walking in the door.

As an owner if you are comfortable accepting those electronic forms of payment go for it. Not every one that walks in the door of your business. Is going to have the problems I have with using something other than cash to pay for services.

The icebreaker story at the CR...is that years ago trades were accepted as payment...customers swapping chickens for a party...

I don't see any problems offering those forms of payment these days.  I would just be careful and make sure you are not violating the Terms Of Service of any of those.  I know Paypal used to, and probably still does, have some strict rules about stuff like this.  But LPIN is in a weird category being 100% legal and I'm certainly no expert on it.

I like the idea of barding for a party. I don't have any chickens, but I've got this first edition signed Hunter Thompson book sitting on my desk. I know you are a gambling man Peter and this book could be worth anywhere from $250 to $17,000. Maybe we could make a deal?

Haha! I love it, speaking as an envious Hunter Thompson fan. Fear and Loathing in Elko (Hunter apparently had a lost weekend at the Stockmen's Hotel).

According to the movie “The Best Little courtesanhouse in Texas”, the rate was “One Chicken, One Lay”.  Yet, according to recent histories of the Chicken Ranch, this wasn't really true, even during the Depression.

The reason why it was called the “Chicken Ranch” is because the brothel was officially registered as a chicken farm to avoid trouble.  Well, the brothel had to register itself as something, didn't it?

And – it's great story, and people love great stories.

Inez's and Mona's have the capabilities to take on all these alternate forms of payments.....no live stocks.  They are all discreet (private) and safe since Anna, Louis and I are the only ones who has access to them.

What cause me to make this post was my recent trip to Vegas.  I was there a week during chinese new year and I was so uncomfortable to be carrying and traveling with so much cash on hand.

Good to know you offer all of those options Peter. Dang it, I guess this means I can't bring in those 2 giant wild female turkeys on my car this morning for any kind of trade, if I could catch them.

Good to know you survived Chinese New Year in Vegas with all that cash. Almost as dangerous as going to Mardi Gras here shortly in New Orleans with cash.

Elko is thankfully not those 2 places though, lol.
