There is a provision in the new law that is a concern.. it seems that promoting prostitution is going to now be a federal crime.  There is no differentiating in the law in regards to legal vs. illegal the way it is written.

Which.. puts LPIN in the same boat as legal weed in some states.  How far are the feds going to intrude on states rights when it comes to the promotion of legal prostitution?

There's no such thing of "sex trafficking".  All girls in LPIN are there by choice.
Maybe the sex police should go get fucking laid for once LOL.

Sex work: a broad term that doesn't differentiate between legal and illigal, but generally is regarded as conse tual.

Sex trafficking: non-consensual and illegal- should not be considered sex work

Independent or illegal work: while illegal, most independent workers are consensual and not trafficked. However the exact facts and figures aren't established due to a lack of legality. This group could be considered at risk for being trafficked.

Legal sex work/LPIN/brothel work: the only form of legal full service sex work in the United States. 100% of the women working within LPIN are there consentually, and have not been trafficked. The exact figures vary yearly, but it is safe to estimate over 1000+ women each year undergo the licensing process across the varying counties and brothels.

-----
Keep in mind that most folks outside of the LPIN community aren't aware of the differences between those terms. Whenever you find yourself engaging on this topic outside of LPIN, it may be worthwhile to clarify what each phrase means in terms of legality, consent, and trafficking.

Most of us know the difference between consensual and trafficking but then most of us have a vastly different opinion on the morality of sex and the laws of morality and the Federal government creating any laws for morality. But the general public does not understand, and they buy the Populist political Bull Shit.
I recently heard from a state legislature that had been in contact with the Federal Attorneys , they wanted my state to have new and better laws to fight trafficking, and claimed that 90% of the women in prostitution were being trafficked, a rather broad and very misleading statement, but the legislator bought it without question.  Surely this DOJ would not lie to us, but they do and they did.
Why is it that we now demonize pain killing medication, we now demonize consensual sex, our government generates lots of false and misleading statements, but it was really creepy to me that the Federal Government was lobbying a state legislature to create legislation.  I must not have ever read that part of the Constitution that say the Federal Government should be in charge of our sex lives.

Explaining it here helps clarify the issue.

However, the understanding needs to happen outside the LPIN community.

Don't tempt me :p. Honestly though, I'm mostly likely to go into the non-profit activism sector if I decide to peruse politics in the future. It isn't on as grand of a scale as the senate, but as an individual I feel like I'd be significantly more impactful on a smaller, local level specifically working towards one goal at a time.

I agree that you would make more of an impact via the activist route at this time.

It is interesting that the country forgets about the social needs of the sick and nursing home bound.  Here is an interesting article about two nurses (and three more) that were accused of ...:

Why couldn't outdates include the bed ridden?  Don't those folks have rights too?  Good questions for the politicians.

Morning SESTA/FOSTA impact report: Microsoft banned nudity, swearing.

What this means for you:

-Skype is no longer a viable platform for sex workers
-Private citizens wanting to video-sex long distance no longer can use skype
-No more cursing while playing video games (welp, thats it guys, im banned :P)
-Private porn content stored on google drive can and will be locked and deleted
-Private files on google drive are now subject to search
-Emails that link to adult websites can be blocked/filtered from your g-mail

What you should do:
-Remove all content from google drive, switch to a secure out of country provider
-Consider getting a protonmail email address (Swiss based, will not block or censor your emails)

A bit off topic - but I have to absolutely agree with you. And to answer your question - currently those people DO NOT have rights to be fully sexual.  Most people don't realize that when you end up in a nursing home you lose your right to be a sexual adult.  There's so much wrong with how we treat our elders and so many things that should be done to correct this.  I feel very passionate about this but I'll stop before I end up in a tangent.  (and thank you for the link!)

There is another site that has shut itself down.  There are citing SESTA.  I think Inez and Monas advertised there.  It was mostly popular with indies.  I started a thread about this but it seems to be deleted, maybe because I mentioned the name.

Considering that SESTA makes web hosts accountable for what their customer do on the internet, even SIN has to be careful on what content is being posted, especially anything that's deemed illegal.  If Q's web host panics and decides to shutdown accounts dealing with the sex industry, even if LPIN is legal, this site could be vulnerable too.  8)
