Most of us know about the Gold Dust West to stay. A little pricey, but very nice rooms and great beds. coffee shop is also very good.  They offer AAA and AARP discounts, and now a BunnyRanch discount.

The Nevada State Railroad museum is on the South end of town and worth a look.

Eats, well three years ago we held the banquet at Q's B-B-Q, still a favorite . For very gooe Itilian food try Adele's, 1112 N. Carson  1 block North of the Carson St. US 50 corner. Reservations are a good idea.

Some favorite CC eating spots of mine include Red's Old 395 Grill and Grand Central Pizza and Pasta.

I posted this in the rural section but likely it should be here:

Carson City

Try the state Railroad Museum for a break and there are some train rides (by
what I've been told or indicated). Some of the rolling stock has been in
movies. For some info http://www.nsrm-friends.org/ basic data on schedule.

One of these days I've got to revisit the museum during summer last time was in December.

Two of the suggestions I'll have to check out for sure.  Especially the Genoa Bar.  I went to their website and found it to be very interesting.  A number of movies have been filmed there and it has a very rich history.  I sometimes stay at the top of Kingsbury Grade and this is really close by. Read about Genoa Bar here.  Some in the group have talked about going to Walley's Hot Springs and this is practically next door.

The other one is the Desert Hill Motel.  That is a very good rate.  I also checked their website and the pictures show nice rooms.  Desert Hills Motel.  The website says they have computer dataports.  I wonder if it is free and if they perhaps have wireless access now?

Thanks for the information and please join in anytime.  We really appreciate it when someone shares tidbits of info that can help others enjoy their visits to Nevada and the brothels.

Take care,
afriend

Very good post Jane.Doe the data is helpful and provides a wide range of options. More of a working person's list of places.

Where's that chicken place that you use to talk about. The resturaunt, not the brothel. Is it still around? Fried chicken?

I'm not sure what you're talking about.  Are you talking about Joe Bob's?  If so then yes they are still around and there are several of them.  If you're looking for fried chicken I've heard great things about a new place but haven't tried yet.  It's down on Mill Street just east of Terminal and it's called M and M's.  It's supposedly a soul food place and I've heard they have great fried chicken.

There was a Joe Bob's Chicken Shack at the Carson Hot Springs at one time. I don't think its there anymore.

Yeah, Jimboy's started out around Sac. and have spread to nevada. I like greasy taco nite where tacos are on sale. Not very fancy and greasy as hell but they're good. a couple years before I retired, I had a buyer's meeting to attend in Sac.  we were all suppose to meet at the bar at the Holiday inn after the day was over. I elected to go to Jimboys instead and got a bag full of tacos, a quart of beer and retreated to my room to watch the Earnest marathon. Everyone was asking where I was and thought I had went to Reno for the nite.  All my supervisors were saying we don't know where he is but he better be back here tomorrow at 8am or he's in big trouble.

Hell with the muffins. I like good donuts. Jelly donuts. but not just any Jelly donut. Jelly donuts that have powered sugar instead of glazeing.

Of course, if all else fails a good cinnamon role with rasins will hit the spot.

BTW: Some really good muffins are at Costco. Huge and at a great price for a dozen.

Best Bar - Genoa Bar Genoa NV

Isn't that suppose to be the oldest bar in the United states?

Nevada... Yes. Built in 1853.   USA... No. Too many older places on the east coast.  Here in Ohio is the Golden Lamb since 1803.  The second oldest in Ohio is located in a log cabin built in 1844.
