You know - come summertime, this sounds pretty cool... Love me some dark skies star gazing! There's a 2nd like on the page linked below for 'self viewing,' what to bring etc.  We don't have enough dark skies left in this country. This location should be perfect for star gazing!

Now I wish I can check out Ely after reading these posts. My curiousity is killing the cat here. It will probably still be way too much additional driving during my next Vegas or Elko trip. But never say never.  ;)
