I "starred"in 4 films by a major Porn Distributor & they market my films online and in adult bookstores with my name and image.  I am also in several magazines - and on the cover o one.  I never used that to up the price of my parties.  It was simply another aspect of my sexuality and background to make myself more marketable in the sex biz.

Like anything else sexual - there is no universal turn-on.  Some people very specifically want to fuck a "Porn Star".  Others could care less.   Some people get very excited if you are in a film that features their very specific fetish.  When you are a sex provider you try to have something to offer everyone.   I never told anyone I was a Porn Star in negotiations.  I had my films in my room - very visible.  If someone was interested s/he would comment and start asking questions. If not, the videos were ignored.

This is news to me. I couldn't tell the difference, I just had a great time!! Yes, porn star or no porn star would not influence my negotiations.

Title dont mean much if the story dont match it.

I agree that "porn star" is probably thrown around too much.  But it's hard for me to really determine who is a porn star these days.  Regarding the "OP" requirements, I definately wouldn't know who appear on covers because it's been years since i been to a video store to get a video.  The internet is way too convient and I stop going because when I went the place just seem empty and selection was not that good.   Plus since the inception of the internet porn in general seem to be in a transitional period.
And I guess if a girl was in a less then flattering porn scene.  It wouldn't make too much of a difference to me.  I just figure they have to start somewhere and figure out how to move up the hidden ladder of success in that industry or some are just interested in the industry and it perks.
PLus with social media today, any girl that has been in a video with a twitter can let people know and they will follow and might consistantly call her start (either because they believe it or just trying to get brownie points) and it could go to the girl head.

If a girl says she's a porn star, I would inquire to see what she was in and check it out real quick before i neg.  But if she says it, it might lead into a conversation about it but it's not really a plus in my book because "porn/porn star" label has gotten to out of hand.

I’ve heard the pornstar gambit a couple of times, not sure where the crossover point is between “appeared in a couple of films/been on a website” and “actual star”. I suppose if it’s someone I’ve heard of outside LPIN, that would qualify as a star.
It usually comes across as a marketing ploy, either in the “guy is interested in bragging rights over having had contact with a celebrity or pseudo-celebrity”, an attraction which I have never understood, or giving the impression of being wilder and more open than girls who haven’t done porn.
Given that most of the positions in pornography are for the benefit of the camera rather than the comfort or pleasure of the subjects, pornstar experiences don’t seem terribly enticing.

ACTUALLY LOL...
By your OWN definition, I am a porn star!

"When a girl is the star actress in a video that actually gets sold in an adult store, in a case with her name and picture on the cover; then she can say that she is a porn star."
Ha, funny how that works out.

This video was filmed over two years ago. Lost weight, lost the bush, lost the pink hair.
;D Works for me! I saw that BTW.... I enjoyed it!

IB said, "A lady at the Moonlite sat down with me and literally the first thing out of her mouth was that she was a porn star and my response was "How about that, me too!" "

So what stage name do you go by?  Or what should it have been?

I've partied with at least one porn star...

http://www.xvideos.com/profiles/janea-jolie#_tabVideos

And I can vouch for Janea's skills in the bedroom, both one on one and with ladies in the mix.  That was one awesome 3 girl party!  Said party included Brittany and this other gal...

yeah, that Janea has skillz!
 :P ;D :-*

I partied with Sarah Faye and she was in a few movies, so I guess can scratch off porn star from my bucket list.

I am a Real Pornstar! What's funny is I don't announce it to everybody but I have done about 35 different movies; some people may still call me an amateur but that still makes me a pornstar! Anyone can google me to find all my videos!

And that's oddball for the shout out!

If you got paid to appear in the films you are not an amature.

What the definition of a porn star is can be debated.  But if you were paid to appear and in your case what did you say 35 films.  You are Not an amateur.   In my opinion.  It is only  amateur porn.  If Joe Blow and his girlfriend Jane Suck a lot.  Film themselves having sex and upload it to the internet for all the world to see free of charge ;D ;D

This would also include anything they film for their eyes only.

Otherwise if you are paid for performing any kind of sexual act on film you may not be a star by some peoples definition,  but in my opinion you are also not an amateur.

Was this post really necessary? She was obviously saying it in jest that she had not done a lot of films. Super Serious we are!

She was only saying it in Jest.  But I have had this discussion with several people before what is & is not amature porn.  So her comments reminded me of a discussion I have had with others many times before.   But sorry just the same if you did not like the post.   But don't read too much into my comments either.  8)

No one cares. But hey, at least it didn't take a 1000 word missive that no one reads to explain it.

...another reason for the label "star" v "actress"  --- There was really no acting in my films.  It was choreographed moves.  I was told what to say, what kind of face to make, what noises they wanted.  No lines memorized and artistically interpreted, no story development, no trying to figure out the "character's motivation".   :P    It was porn and I was the star of the film.

What I realize about porn stars is that there are a lot of people who are much better at sex, at least look better doing sex, than I do.  I remember they asked a high ranking porn star what sex was like with her husband and she said it was plain vanilla missionary and that's the way she wanted it, cause of the obvious reason.  I've never had a partner having to self-stimulate themselves, but I see it with porn stars all the time. Go figure.
