There is a good thread on the nostalgic Nevada and Las Vegas, so I thought I'd post a list of films that were either shot or have scenes in them from Las Vegas.  The date, then description follows.  There are some really good ones listed here.  The couple I remember the most are Diamonds Are Forever, especially the street scene with the Mustang driving down the neon sign lined streets and Elvis's Viva Las Vegas.  Might be something in here to watch sometime today or tomorrow.

I had to put the list in two sections because of the length. Hope you find something interesting to watch sometime.

Gee thanks, that's quite a list. I didn't see the television show Vega$ with Robert Urich. Plenty of late seventies-early eighties film in that show. There was recently a movie on the life of the Binnion son who was murdered.

I am trying to think of a movie that had a great location scene looking East from the strip and Flamingo, which was all open desert. I believe the two main charaters were going  to drag race out Flamingo. My best recollection is  "Palm Springs Weekend" 1963. Troy Donahue and Robert Conrad. I think Connie Stevens was the girl.

...

1971    Diamonds Are Forever
James Bond movie filmed in and around Las Vegas.  Highlights of the Las Vegas Hilton, Circus Circus, The Mint, and the Tropicana.  Stars Sean Connery and Jimmy Dean make this Las Vegas casino tycoon, Willard Whyte, somewhat believable.

...

...

1996    Mars Attacks!
Large amount of Las Vegas footage with brief footage of Pahrump, Luxor, Lamdmark implosion.  Star studded movie contains Jack Nicholson, Annette Bening, Danny DeVito, Jim Brown Tom Jones.

...

1997    Vegas Vacation
Filmed mostly at the Mirage, Riviera, MGM, Hoover Dam, and downtown Las Vegas.  Other Las Vegas scenes includes the famous casino sign graveyard, and Siegfried and Roy's show.
...
Three of my favorite movies!

Jill St. John in Diamonds Are Forever may be the hottest red-head ever! Especially in that skimpy bikini! But to think, in real life she slept with Henry Kissinger... YUCK!

One reason Pahrump was chosen as the landing site for the Martians in Mars Attacks! was supposedly that Jack Nicholson (who BTW played dual roles in the film as the U.S. President and a sleazy hotel/casino developer) was a frequent visitor to the Chicken Ranch and thus familiar with the area. Whether or not that's true, he certainly was the Charlie Sheen of his era.

In National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation, my favorite scene (other than cousin Vicky's pole & cage dancing and the eye candy-filled pool scenes) was when Eddie took Clark to the "local's casino" and they had such off-beat table games as "Guess Which Hand?", "War", and "Pick a Number". Also, when I took a real-life "damn (Hoover) Dam" tour a couple years later, our guide actually mentioned the movie, and that we needn't worry - there really aren't any doors that open directly onto the face of the dam itself.

Best regards,
Speed Racer

"Pay it Forward" 2000, filmed in and around Las Vegas, a lot of it was shot on Fremont St, and in the Golden Gate Hotel/Casino.

This should bring back the memories some more.

1985     Fever Pitch
Most of this movie was filmed in Las Vegas, a lot of interior casino shots. Ryan O'Neal stars in this movie.

God, that was one of the WORST movies I have ever seen in my life!!!!!! One of the few I have walked out on.
