https://www.asafernevada.org/They are pushing for 2024 ballot measures regarding brothels in Churchill County, Douglas County (2 counties that and West Wendover (in Elko county)
They don’t say much about what it is they are pushing for in Douglas county, which I think has outlawed prostitution, but in Churchill county, where it is legal but there are no brothels, they are trying to challenge the zoning, they claim that the county has made zoning so strict to make it unattractive for anyone to open a brothel.
Finally there’s West Wendover, which I think most here would find the most relevant. Of course Wikipedia isn’t always accurate, but it says there that prostitution is actually illegal in Elko County as a whole, with the exceptions of Carlin, Elko (City), Wells, and West Wendover, the only one of the four with no brothels. I googled the situation regarding West Wendover, which I’ve actually said I’d like to see a brothel in, way closer to SLC than Elko, and I guess the town itself outlawed it. Granted it’s a long shot either way, but it seems to me that Elko County is rather tolerant of brothels, having by far the most of any county, there’s a part of me that thinks they should go about this at the county level, trying to get them to allow it everywhere, and then someone could build a brothel just outside the West Wendover city limits.
They also have a YouTube video saying that if approved a for profit corporation that they are affiliated with would build a Roman themed Brothel (that they already have a name for) in West Wendover.
So I guess someone is legitimately interested in building a brothel from the ground up, something I’ve said it seems like no one wants to do.
Though it seems to me if they have money that they are itching to use to build a brothel, they should just build in Nye County.
