Stockman's Hotel Elko AVOID!

Usually my favorite place to stay in Elko. Convieient to the houses and cheap rooms. Well not any more. This is my last time here. Place is in bankruptcy, hallway smells so bad I have to hold my breath to get to the elevator. bed sags in the middle, no clock,no coffee pot, had to have the maint. man replace the thermostat this afternoon when the heat would not shut off, 94* in the room. Shower goes to all hot when someone on the floor flushes the toilet. I cannot recommend this place to my friends.

*Update*
When checking out this morning the manager at the desk filled me in as to the stench in the hallway. As I had suspected it was the guy in the room next to me!!! The one who kept his hallway door open all night long! Seems he was on the first floor and the smell was creeping out into the hotel lobby area. So they moved him up to the second floor! The two ladies at the desk yeaterday who smiled and offered to look into it by leaving a note for the manager knew what was what! The fucking lied to me, not offering me another room or squat! The manager told me that they were going to evict the guy today. I told her that was no good to me, she had nothing to say.

Today, as usual, I got into Reno in the early afternoon.   Then it was lunch, check in, some gambling, and then a nap to get rid of the jet lag.   Now that I'm ready to go it's a little late to head out to the houses at a reasonable hour.   Now I'm sitting in the hotel room alone reading about all the fun out in Elko and it's torture.  Lol.   Tomorrow the fun starts for this monger.

That's too bad. The few times I was there, it was always clean and comfortable. I know binnion's in Vegas became really run down so I wasn't suprised to hear, they closed the hotel portion. I certainly know what you're talking about with the matress. I had a simular problem at the Union Plaza in Vegas. the only difference is the matress made me feel like I was going to roll out of bed. Is Stockman's part of the Terrible chain which also runs The Sands?

BTW: Someone told me The Sienna in Reno filed for reorganization this year.

I've had some poor rooms in the past and some were in LV places. But as I was traveling with a group went where was planned, but strange as it may seem the following year the group returned to the same place with different results the rooms were fine.

Some places file for bankruptcy for various reasons some unrelated to finances other than cash flow.

I've had rooms that didn't smell like a mountain breeze but old dirty carpet in some "'good hotels"" in LV. The cause was recent carpet cleaning and still not totally dry. I'm just wondering if this was one of those wild by chance misadventures in life where all went the wrong direction, much like is seen in hollywood movies played for laughs.

Keep smiling shooter all can't be bad, others have experienced that much and worse. Story material for laughs about the camp fire (or wherever).

Hard to smile about the whole thing. Maybe I have led a sheltered life, but I have never known a human being to be is such a condition. When the stench spread out of his room and a good thirty feet up and down a hallway. Even on the drive to Reno I could still recall it. And the hotels solution is to evict him instead of getting him some sort of help. I now feel that I should have called the county health department  on the whole thing.  I should have I know, but who stops and helps strangers these days?

Wow!  You take one every MONTH???   You must have a lot of water where you live.   Here it's called "spring cleaning".

Shooter it happens some have super bad body odor.

I can smile a little about it now but at the time it wasn't funny. Back in my college years as a freshman stayed in the dorm. Winter term a foreign student was placed into a room on my floor. He had such a bad body ordor you could smell it most of the way down the hallway. Believe me stink, it could gag a maggot on a gut wagon.

shooter,

One more nail in Stockman's coffin--their wireless internet isn't working today and I've had to connect to the internet via dialup!  It's such a drag compared to wireless. I think next time I'll stay at Motel6--at least there, I can get wireless internet in some of the rooms, air conditioning that works well and rooms that are basically the same as you'll find at any Motel6.  The coffee shop at Stockman's is still a good place to meet for a small get-together.

For myself, I like Stockman's for the location. Kinda nice to just park your car and being able to walk eveywhere including resturaunts and brothels. I have stayed at Motel 6 and it's not bad and also close to Red Lion inn and casino which is probably the nicest place in elko.

This past week both Stockmans and the Commerece Casinos in Elko were purchased by a group that owns several  small Nothern Nevdea Casinos.  We can only hope for the best as the Stockmans cannot get any worse.

ok guys, I stayed at Stockmans on Monday, 7/12. The only reason i stayed there was because of a transportation issue (another thread) and it was in walking distance to Inez's. The hotel did not impress me. The place still had that smell and the rooms were hot and stuffy. Didn't sleep worth a shit. The internet worked good though, and it was free wi-fi.  hope the Elko excursion group has fun...but the Motel 6 may be better.  DD

Can't say I didn't warn you (in another thread). The place is a dump these days. Too bad.

I recommend The Thunderbird--it's just across Idaho from Commercial and Stockmans. An easy walking distance to the brothels. Clean and updated.

There are many small motels between 2nd and 12th on Idaho, all are a nice walk to the brothels or a $5 cab ride.

Motel 6 is at the other end of town near the Red Lion. About 1.75-2 miles to the brothels.

yeah it's long walk, especially if it's 100 degrees like yesterday, just watch the traffic crossing Idaho from the Thunderbird
