Just returned from staying at the Golden Nugget (Rush Tower).  To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
Had to call housekeeping every night for either towels and toiletries.
Internal restaurants not open when scheduled.

At last, a place where I can setup an antenna farm like Art Bell, and a telescope watching the stars and alien craft.

Plus, plus, plus a collection of young ladies hanging around me enjoying it all.

Just went to Sheri's the night before Thanksgiving from Las Vegas. The traffic was light, but on the way back there was light rain. Definitely be careful going over those hills when wet. The combination of downhill speed, construction and wet road were a bit dangerous.

I stayed at Howard Johnson on my Vegas trip 2 years ago. Was budget friendly. Might as well do AirBnb next time. Ive had lots of good experiences with it.

I attend a convention in Vegas every November and I end up free from an evening of dinner with friends around 10pm.  So several times now I have hopped in the car and made the drive to Pahrump for some fun.

The last time I did it, it was cool but beautiful when I left Vegas.  But when I came back at 1am it was snowing and the road was icy.  It's a beautiful drive in the day, but trust me, you don't want to drive it at 1am in the snow!

So before you go, look up the weather forecast for Mountain Springs, Nevada   That's the little town just East of the summit.  Think twice if it's going to be below freezing and I would only drive that road fully sober.

I liked the Holiday Inn Express in Pahrump. Prices were reasonable, the place was clean, and was walking distance to a number of casinos and restaurants. Easy drive from the hotel to the local LPIN establishments.
