I know Little isn't very popular around these parts, but seriously, someone needed to do something.

The evidence of the last 7 months has been clear. The reopening of the brothels weren't the last thing on the governor's mind, they weren't even on his mind at all (as stated by him)... seems like he would've been fine with keeping them closed even WITH a vaccine.

Keeping a low profile hasn't been working, so maybe something will start getting done. It's risky, but we seem to be in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. Do nothing and risk permanent closure or do something and risk government action. Someone needed to give them a push. They were ignored in the public forum earlier this month, so now it's time to step it up. Hof would've probably sued them back in July...

Also, damn. Amy sounds bitter as hell! LOL

While I know that lawsuits are generally a slow path to change, anyone who thinks that this or any governor would tackle this issue in the week or weeks prior to an election (whether he is on the ballot or not) is naive or foolish.

I would venture a guess that post-election back-channel lobbying will be the most effective path to change. The lawsuit can serve as a statement of intent, but it ain't never getting to a courtroom.

I nod my head until I get to the part where she protests that she and other legal sex workers should be allowed to "work from home" or outside of the brothel during the pandemic. Wtf, is she being serious? Never gonna happen. Can't believe she'd muddy the point of the suit with this! It really DOES make the whole thing seem like a publicity stunt...

Right. Her demand also has an air of entitlement to it. Like, maybe she could should ask the court to have the State pay for a doctor to do housecalls too so that she could pass the doctor exam without having to drive to the BR  ;D A doctor exam will still need to be done BTW.

Also, since by statute negotiation must still take place in the brothel, she'll have to go to the brothel to do that before the customer and her go to her house to perform the deed. An executive order doesn't re-write the law. Executive orders are always subject to judicial review and may be overturned if the orders lack support by statute. Think her attorneys steered her wrong for including such silly and detracting language.
