Reno to Elko: transportations

whats the best way to commute from Reno to Elko? Any bus/taxi service (does uber work in the area?) Thanks.

Salt Lake Express (SLCexpress.com) runs daily bus service along I-80 from Reno Airport to SLC Airport, it stops in a few cities, one being in Elko at the Maverick Casino.

I have always driven. You can rent a car at RNO, if that's where you're coming from.

Not sure if you were suggesting Ubering from Reno to Elko, which seems unlikely, but would warn against relying on rideshare services when you're actually in Elko. There were a couple people doing Lyft a few years ago, and probably still are, but not enough that you're likely to get a ride quickly.

I don't have a license to rent a car. I will have to use the bus line.

If you are flying and then taking a bus it might be better to fly to SLC.

Should also say that if you like waiting for trains on a dark platform (most likely) by yourself at 3am Amtrak also runs from Reno to Salt Lake with a stop in Elko. I think the arriving train (from Reno) gets there at a reasonable hour, but the one to take you back to Reno has that really bad departure time, and that's if it's on time, I've heard stories of the train being 30 hours late. I'm just putting it out there in the interest of trying to be helpful..

Just a general observation, but the number of people on here that use Amtrak to get to Elko has decreased significantly (maybe even went away completely) ever since that SLC Express Bus started running it seems like that's the choice (of both customers and the girls) who don't rent cars or fly right into Elko. It originally ran from SLC airport just to Elko but like I mentioned above they have since started running to/from SLC and Reno, simply stopping in Elko. While I've never used it myself I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Once you are in Elko, assuming you plan on visiting Inez's/Monas, they can help you make arrangements to get to the houses or a closer hotel, the houses are 1-1.5 miles from Maverick.

I have heard a similar (actually the exact same) story as Mr. Lloyd on the subject of Lyft. Elko does offer a small Taxi service, but I've heard it's only 1 or 2 drivers, it can get backed up pretty quickly.

Just skip Reno and fly into Elko. Take Elko Taxi  to get you to downtown Elko.
  Stay at Stockmen's and you can walk to all the brothels .

Just skip Reno and fly into Elko. Take Elko Taxi  to get you to downtown Elko.
  Stay at Stockmen's and you can walk to all the brothels .

If you have the option this is my preference as well. If your trip is short enough that you can carry all your baggage easily and the weather is nice, you might even skip the cab ride and walk from the airport. It's about a mile and a half from the airport to Stockmen's.

If you fly on a commercial airline to Elko, you must go to Salt Lake City and change aircraft to get to Elko. 
So when talking about how to get from Reno to Elko, a stop at Salt Lake City is a valid part of the thread.
