I guess this would be a side trip.

SIDEWINDER

A Side winder trip that is. ;D

It's amazing how much road construction is going on considering how broke that state of Nevada is suppose to be. If they're using stimulas money, all I can say is more power to them. They're doing something with the money that will benefit everyone for years and create jobs at the sametime. Mc'Carren BLvd has all kind of construction going on. I left for home early this morning and every on ramp to 80 westbound was closed. I had to drive all the way to almost Sparks on Rock Blvd to find an on ramp that was open so I could get on 80 westbound. The road between Reno and Carson city has a large construction project with them starting to work on where the new bypass highway will merge with the old one out in Washoe Valley. Heavy road construction on 80 off and on all the way from Reno to Sacramento.

Baldinis is always fun. I also went in Cal Neva. Somewhere I hadn't been in years. It brought back memories of the way casinos use to be. Dark, smokey and full of customers who look like they had been sitting in the same place for the last 40 years. I still like the Atlantis the best.

Oh, I almost forgot. Monday night football is fun at silver Legacy. They built little grandstands where you can sit and watch the game. They roll a portable food table out where you can buy different sandwiches such as Barbque beef and they slice the meat and make them on the spot.

Sounds like you had a good trip Sidey.   I prefer the Atlantis too although the Peppermill is a close second.

Its what all of those high gas taxes cover for you Sidey. 10 cents goes to the Federal Highway Fund, which expires at the end of September.

If I can drive on modern roads that are safe and updated to keep the traffic jams to a minimum, I'll pay the 10 cents per gallon. at least, I can see where my money's going  unlike some solar plant that takes 500 million and shuts down leaving the government to pick up the tab for all the displaced employees in the form of health care and unemployment insurance.

BTW: I think 500 million could have filled a few pot holes.

Now many road projects have a long planning forward process which means some have been funded and are now being done. Some states use bonding and such to also provide money for construction projects now so paying for them wont be fully done for years. By the paper our one project here is but half done and though on schedule still has until Dec of next year to finish.

There's usually 2 fuel taxes one if fed the other a state. Now the rub most state's levi a higher/gal tax so best read the pump to see the full tax paid. One thing I find needing major adjustment is how to tax hybrid/electric/etc kinds of autos fairly and yet at a level equal to what gas burners pay; simple they use the roads putting an equal ware/damage to roads thus should be paying equally.
